QUARTZITE RESTORATION, AND PROTECTION

Quartzite

Quartzite is a stone of choice for people who love the look of marble, but want something less delicate. However, the hardness of quartzite can make it difficult to work with. Not everyone will. At Elite Stone And Tile Care our highly trained and qualified technicians know how to properly erase quartzite damage and restore a like-new appearance. Elite Stone And Tile Care services  residential and commercial properties throughout the Orlando and Daytona area.

Quartzite Insights

Quartzite is a metamorphic rock, which simply means that it started out as one type of stone and over time the elements “morph” it into something different.
In the case of quartzite, it starts as quartz sand (like on a beach). Then with heat and pressure it becomes sandstone. Then, with more heat and pressure, it becomes quartzite.

Quartzite is usually light colored but some minerals can give it a blue or red hue.

Quartzite quarries can be found through out the world. Brazil, Ireland, Norway and the United States are just a few of the places that quarry quartzite. Theme Vals in Switzerland is a good place to see quartzite but one of the best places to see the durability and colors of quartzite is in Sioux Falls, SD. The Sioux Falls quartzite quarry is on the outskirts of town, not too far from the airport.
Quartzite is versatile, beautiful and restorable if necessary. It adds beauty and durability to all sorts of projects, ranging from commercial to residential. And, since quartzite can be renewed and restored, it is a great investment that will remain beautiful for years to come.

Quartzite Restoration

Quartzite polishing, protection and maintenance.

If your quartzite is dirty or dull looking, scratched, cracked, chipped or otherwise damaged, we can make it look brand new again!

Quartzite is much harder than marble, and when it needs restoration, be sure to call a professional that has the specialized knowledge to work on your quartzite. Many stone restoration contractors won’t touch it. Elite Stone And Tile Care is qualified to restore quartzite. From minor services like having your quartzite floors or countertops polished to major services like a complete quartzite floor or quartzite countertop repair and restoration, our professional technicians can perform these services for you.

Quartzite Repairs

Do you have chipped quartzite countertops? Are there cracks in your quartzite floor? What about broken quartzite tiles? Before you replace your quartzite, consider having us provide expert quartzite repair services. We can fill holes in, fix quartzite cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and honing and polishing it to match the finish on the rest of your quartzite floor, countertop or other quartzite surfaces.

Deep Cleaning Quartzite

Elite Stone and Tile Care can remove quartzite stains and  discolorations. Whether you are seeking guidance on how to do this yourself (refer to our Stain Treatment app) or want us to treat your quartzite, most common stains can be removed.

Quartzite Honing

A honed finish is the most recommended finish for quartzite. Do your quartzite floors or  countertops have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, or spots? We can hone your quartzite surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new quartzite surface free of damage. With our quartzite honing services, Elite Stone And Tile Care expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

Quartzite Polishing

An uneven finish, or dull spots  can diminish the elegant appearance of your quartzite. Elite Stone And Tile Care can polish your quartzite using stone-specific equipment and supplies to restore the finish you want, whether matte, semi-gloss or gloss finish. With our quartzite polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve a beautiful, glass-like polish.

Quartzite Grinding/Flattening

Are your tiles uneven? Do you want your quartzite tile floor flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? We can grind away the excess stone to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. Once ground to the level and shape desired, the quartzite is honed and polished to the finish you want.

Sealing & Protecting

Quartzite is not acid-sensitive but does need a little extra protection to inhibit stains.

Impregnating Sealers

Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. We recommend you have us seal your quartzite to give you added protection from staining. Sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against stain damage, because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains.

Protection for Quartzite Countertops

We offer multiple options to protect your quartzite countertops from staining. When your quartzite countertops are protected from stains, you don’t have to worry about choosing quartzite for your kitchens, bar tops, vanity tops or where staining is a concern.  (Learn more.)

Cleaning & Care

Some helpful tips:

  • Always use a stone safe cleaner on your natural stone surfaces.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners.
  • Wipe up spills as soon as possible.
  • For countertops, use a cutting board for food prep.
  • Be sure to reseal as needed.
  • Consult our STONE AND TILE CARE GUIDE for do’s and don’ts as well as more care tips.

Does Quartzite Require Maintenance?

The short answer is yes, quartzite does require maintenance. Regular cleaning with a stone safe cleaner is a great for simple day-to-day maintenance, but over time, floors can develop grout lines that just won’t come clean, shiny scratches, and increasingly obvious traffic patterns. Countertops can become scratched, and dull.
As these problems develop, you become more and more dissatisfied with the appearance of the floors and other quartzite surfaces until it’s time for another round of professional restoration. Ask about our regularly scheduled maintenance program which keeps your floors and countertops looking great all the time, without the need for periodic restoration.
